I hunt in an old cypress swamp that is now filled with buckbrush. Some of the buckbrush is dead and submerged along with logs and stumps and vegetation. I also hunt the backwaters of a local resevoir when it's flooded. I need something that will get me there, AND get me back. I don't have a boat yet, but it will have to be a 1648 or less. I'll be hunting with 2 others max. and won't have a large load of gear. Which one is best for my situation? |

Ok, The distance is moderate and the load is light (2 to 3 guys and a mag size bag of decoys), but one problem with the area I hunt is that I have to pull the boat in on a fourwheeler with a sled or trailer so 36 might be a little much do you think? Also, I've heard so much about the longtails having more leverage and are in "first gear" while the sd's are in "second gear". There ain't no way I'm gonna be running wide open in this place. Just having tough time deciding which to go with. |
