Not sure if it was mentioned but use a heat gun to get the plastic Bimini fittings to fit over the conduit.

Post Re: Poker1
This thread was a lot of help as I recently built a variation of this blind. I saved a bit of money by taking some 2" X 1/4" flat bar and making the attachment hardware instead of buying the plastic bimini pieces. I simply cut the flatbar into 2" long sections and welded it to the conduit with a cheap wire welder. Also, instead of using soft straps, I slid some 3/4" PVC Tees over the couduit which allowed me to use short sections of PVC pipe to prop the blind up when in use. This way I can fine tune the height of the blind by simply changing the length of the pvc supports.

I know this is an old post resurected, but guys these blinds look awesome. Defenetly going to replace my blind next year.

Have one question for Poker......Does the top half of the blind collapse for shooting? The opening seemed a bit narrow so I was just wondering.

Thanks

I built my blind almost exactly like pokers. The top does collapse for shooting.

I do have straps on the top bars. They are looped around the lower bars and hold the top bars in an over center position. I just put the blind frame back on the boat so I'll take some pics.

I used the poker1 blind as a model a couple years back. It has been a great blind. Goes up in seconds.

This the third scissor blind I’ve built and the first time this way and it’s unbelievable how much more sturdy it is when put up. No more pins just 2 buckles to clip in center. I plan on throwing on 2 18ft shaggy panels. I also put a piece of conduit on bottom of cordura to keep material down in the wind.

I've built a few of these blinds myself and no longer use the plastic buckles. I've found placing the straps at each end and using an S-hook into an eye screw at both ends of the blind rather than in the middle is way better. Plastic buckles are a PITA with gloves and get brittle in the freezing temps and placing the retention straps at both ends allows for a lot more mobility in the blind when deployed instead of having to go under the damn straps all the time.

Most of the pics on this post are blurry with the photobucket logo. How can I view them? become a member of photobucket? Thanks for any feedback.
