Used a friend's dog stand last weekend and loved it. I did not like the price of it though as it was $180 new. So, I set out to Home Depot with a plan and finished this up tonight. Have less than $10 invested. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1352951111.089358.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1352951121.578489.jpg

Suggestion, i would run some cables from the top by the hooks down each side and attach them to the platform front. Will help with holding up the weight, doesn't look like there is enough bracing to hold a dog up with just 4 nails on each side, great idea though

That could potentially sky rocket me over my budget of $10.

Only problem I see is that it will float. All the dog stands I have use are about 9-11" underwater. If it works thou I will buy 10 at $9 a piece

Yours sits under the water? Thisis really just a step for my 115lb Chessie to climb back on the bow. It will sit right at the surface of the water.

Yes. From my experience if it is under water it make it much easier for he dog to get in. They pull up with their front feet and grab the ladder with their back feet. I Have found this to be the easiest on a dog. I use an edge ladder by expedite

If I'm hunting an area on my marsh with 9"-11" of water I'm probably not killing ducks anyway. I like it shalllooowww.

Anything less than6 inches and we can't hunt with dogs. They get stuck in the mud to much.

I don't know what dog you hunt, but the marsh can be brutal on a small dog. My Chessie is a machine and has hunted it his whole life. I don't know if I could ever have anything else. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1352955471.956515.jpg

Labs. If you ever see a dog tender towards its tail you over worked it. During teal season we had to hold one back because it was worn out. The dog whined every time he saw a bird fall. He wanted to get the bird but we knew it was better to send the other one.

Me and nick wore Buddha out in Reggio one day. Didn't hunt him the next day because if you touched his tail he would bite at us. He was pissed.

My dogs come up to the boat all is needed is to put your hand behind their head and they pull themselves selves up. On most spots they just jump in. Usually we are in a foot or less hard bottom

The main reason I have a hunt deck is for my dog to have easy access in and out of the boat.

I tried 3 2x4s with boards nailed across them for steps
Was way too narrow. Dog kept fallin off also was too slick, needs to be at least 18 inches wide and put black roofing felt on it or something they can get some gription

you may have to double your budget to $20 but use PVC pipes as your runners on bottom so they fill up with water and wont flaot away
