35hp...i would definately go 18, just to balance out engine a little more and decrease the amount of squat on take off....... |

1846 with huntdeck |

Post subject: | Re: 1746 boats |
the hunt deck will also help balance the boat better because it pushes the driver up more off the transom. |

18 is better for load carrying but 17 is faster light. Have a 1746 GT boat right now (rear hunt deck and front storage hatch) and about 2 hours ago had 3 people (all around 180-200 lbs) 3 layout blinds, full tank in front, battery in rear, rear seat box, 2 dz deeks, other essentials and was running 25 mph in deep water with a brand new engine. Never been run before today. |

Hopefully you guys see this again but i am down sizing in my boat because my son has turned 16 and all he does is hunt.. he quit all sports he runs a trap line in the morning before school and one after. he hunts on weekends. he uses my boat and i am worried he will get stuck by himself or with his friend.... i need a boat that will be light enough but still have power and carry at most 2 guys him and a dog, i am not a boat expert but need help deciding thanks |

The 1846 GT hull will outperform any other. Until recently, I had an 1648 GDSD (tapered) hull. It cannot be compared to the GT hull. |

Post subject: | Re: 1746 boats |
for the 46 wide to perform well with a Surface drive you don't want to go round chine. If you don't go square chine (best peformer) then I might go double tapered chine or single chine. The boat is not very wide so it doesn't take much for it to turn even being square chine. |

1646 or 1554 Extreme are the top performers for the 25. If you plan to carry a big load with it, 1840 for weight displacement. |
