Gator Tail Boat, 1854: $4,900.

Just sayin' as an example of what's available in that price range. I imagine the other companies that specialize in mud boats will have similar offerings. Custom builders too.

Post Re: Alweld Mud Boat??
I'm considering buying one of these in spring after the ice season is over. This boat seems to be halfway decent. I was told 4500 for a 1748 + 250 shipping for a flat front with navigation lights. Id probably go 1744 I'm looking to stay light weight running a 23 and it wouldn't see a lot of harsh conditions mostly marshes a few rivers and fishing in deeper water clean bottom lakes.

the alweld is .100 where most are .125
It has 4 - 1.5" x 4" longitudinal bracing 5 in 50" wide (gator and prodrive uses 1" x 2" 5- 48)
Full welded in floor and side skins (for added hull strength)
gunnel rail w/ rigging chase
full upright and level floatation
split rear seating
smooth bottom except for one rib down the center
hunt deck option

Price -1748 4750 w/ shipping and nav lights
gator tail - 1746- 4100 (shipping?)
go devil - 1648 - 4050 w/o shipping 1848- 4400 w/o shipping (tall transom +$100)
pro drive - 1748 - 4920 (shipping?)

So the questions is does the larger bracing in the alweld with welded floor and side skins which makes for a narrower width in between bracing make up for the .100 gauge hull. Would it be close to the strength of a .125 designed like a go devil or other manufacture. The price seems a little high considering its .100 but is still priced in the middle of the production hulls. Ill get a closer look in spring when I look at em and make my final descion.

An alweld will never compare to a true mud hull no matter how u look at it also if u can get a true mud hull built by a mudmotor manufacturer for a couple hundred more why would u question it? U pay for what u get

I don't normally post, but I thought I would clear up some of the questions regarding the Alweld mud boat.

As many of you already know, we carry several mud boat lines including Gator Tail, Excel and also the Alweld mud boat. All are great boats and each has there strong points.

The Alweld mud boat right now comes in sizes ranging from 1544 through 2052. Flat or V bow.

Standard Features:
smooth bottom with one center keel.
longitudinal bracing
100% welded construction
complete floor and side skins that is 100% welded in.
closed cell foam injection in floor and sides.
The entire boat is 0.100 gauge. (with the bracing used and the floor and sides continuously welded, and with the foam there is no need for 0.125 with this design).
two knee braces supporting the all aluminum transom.
tread plate, reinforced bow cap and corners.
nav lights.
heavy gunnel rail.
non-skid interior.
split rear seating.
Rigging chases on both sides from stern to bow.
Coast Guard approved rating.
38" bow deck.

We also offer the bow with a open under deck extension, locking bow deck storage or bow drop deck design. There are host of other options, including a rear drop deck.

We are working on some larger versions of this boat to accomidate dual motors.

Pricing completely depends on how the boat is set up and what features are added. But, for example. A 1852 Mud, with the standard features listed above, is about $5,500 with freight (of course freight charges can vary)

When the boat is purchased as part of a package, discounts may apply.

There may be a market for those hulls up north, but at that price I can't see many people from down here buying them when you can get a 1/8" - 3/16" thk. PD, GT, or custom built hull for less. And you may want to re-think the logic that the continuous welding of the sides and foam in the floor will magically keep a .100" bottom from denting. Although if I were a salesman I may try to use that pitch as well...just my .02
