Its easier to frog out of a bateau.. And I have never seen a skiff with a pop up blind..But skiffs run faster when built by Aucoin's.

The Bateau is more "user friendly" overall....

While many of the highly experienced fellows drive the skiff, and always
will - they will also warn that they are not for the novice operator or the
best choice for weekend family / pleasure boat use....

A skiff will give you more plaining surface in the water because the rake doesn't go back as for as a bateau helping you step a load or plane out a lil faster. I had a pop-up blind on my old skiff. I use to crawfish and stayed in the timber all day. The knife edge on the bow of a skiff is the best for sqeezing inbetween trees. Skiff catch hell in rough water and jumping wakes of other boats. If that knife edge bow bites into a wave hold on. It can easily through you out and/or sink your boat.
I got a Aucoin bateau now and don't need a skiff since I quit crawfishing. It performs like a dream in rough water compared to my old skiff. I have a narrower front end on my bateau that goes to a point (more so that most bateaus). It was made that way for when i do go into the timber. Having a nice size front deck is also another benefit I like about having my bateau. I still kept the open floor like my skiff.
