I have a 16 foot boat which i seriously modified the inside to make a blind and such.... So I am wondering what I can do to add floatation on the inside in case I ever take on water. I was gonna get the expanding foam and just fill all the voids and such but I have heard that is a nono cuz it absorbs moisture and will get super heavy over time Is this true? Do they make a marine grade expandable foam? Is there anything else I can do or Use? |

Not 100% sure but I believe da 4'x8' sheets of styrofoam dat you use to wrap you house when building is a closed cell foam dat won't get water logged. |

Don't put floatation in your boat. Foam is the devil. You don't want to ride around with the devil do you? |

talk to muddiejeep about the foam he use to have in his old boat. when he pulled that stuff out it was like an extra 100+ lbs taken out of his boat. |

Foam is some really good stuff. It will make your boat float higher out the water. |

Y'all laugh about flotation but come on up here when it is 15 degrees outside and blowing 25 gusting 35 and you are out on big water / waves...then tell me you don't want flotation in your boat. |

I bought closed cell foam from home depot and put it in between the ribs on my floor and then covered with aluminum. Closed cell foam will not absorb water. Only open cell foam will. You can always test the material before you install to make sure it will not absorb water. |
