Post GD flotation removal
Finally got around to removing the flotation in my GD boat and it surely did widen up my lil 38" bottom. Total weight removed was 60# and 17 of it was in the floor. Next project will be to remove it in the front and make that a lil storage compartment. If someone has some pics of a front compartment please post them up. Looks good. How did you get to the welds in the back corners under the braces?

When you do the front measure down 2-3" to make the horizontal cut that will be the top of the compartment. If you try to cut it too high up you will get into the bracing.

Cubman we had to sit there with a sawzall and take out time. We got the big stuff out by cutting by the floor and hooked it up with 2 vise grips and used a chain fall. It started to pull the floor up in the air and we just jumped on the floor of the boat and the welds broke off and just grinded it down.

Removing floatation from a go devil boat. This should make for one hell of an interesting thread.

The back is a pain to cut the aluminum out but the front is a royal pain to get the foam out. Makes a huge mess but is well worth the storage[attachment=0]ImageUploadedByTapatalk1372903652.392254.jpg

I thought GD was following suit with GTR and got the exemption from the coast guard.

Only part I'm confused about is how to cut the front measure 2-3" from where?? After I remove the floation in the front I will probably repaint the boat then gator glide it and hopefully get a 23 galvazined GDLT and that should be all.

Haha no man the motor I bought like that. The guy that had it liked John Deere and that's what he painted it.

Anyone ever made the back flotation pods in a GD into storage? I was thinking about just cutting a panel out, removing flotation and putting hinges, gasket and a latch of some sort back on the panels I cut out to make them into 2 big storage areas.

Renovator that looks really nice . Thank you for posting that picture . Got a better idea of what I want to do next winter to my boat . Here is a picture of my back pods as a couple of people were asking about it . First, it was a real pain in the ass . I’m very happy with the final product but it was time consuming and expensive . Second, I was able to remove 60 pounds of foam from the back pods . That actual weight(not sprayed out with a pressure water weight) and it was water logged and nasty . The floor has already been removed . Finally just the bow to get to next .
