 Polymer bottom Anybody running this or had any experience with it. i was looking around and saw it and was pretty interested. does it work??

Re: Polymer bottom On boats, polymer and UHMW is the same. Its basically an engineered plastic.
I have it on my boat and i like it. I run in some rocks so it saves my hull. It also helps in veggies, sand and mud. To put it in perspective.... Its like using ky as opposed to not using ky....

Re: Polymer bottom After riding in Flash's 1860 with UHMW.I will say it helps.We slid that boat across sand bars with ease.Some bars had no water on them others had a inch.We beached it one day and i was praying he had a winch.With 124 decoys and a 4 man heavy hunting load.The boat slid off without even straing.The ground was so hard we never left foot prints.

Re: Polymer bottom One thing to consider is that once it's on it's on. It's worth spending a little extra to make sure it's done right and someone with a track record performs it. In my case I had it done by a local guy that has experience with it but the workmanship was sub-par. Now, after crushing ice and breaking ice slabs with the hull (in many cases right where the uhmw ended on the bow) it has started to peel. So lessons learned is get it done right and carry it as far up the bow as possible...if you hit high rocks (in current w/o reverse, it will happen) and ice it will be worth the extra foot or two.
That said, if one can recomend a good adhesive to attempt a repair, please let me know.

Re: Polymer bottom Should have also said I wouldn't run the sections of river I do without it. The damage it has prevented on hull is amazing and certainly worth the cost. Welding to repair the holes and scars would get expensive.
