This may seem like a stupid question but.. I just bought 8 sheets of afg and was wondering if I can cut the bottom twine rope off to break up the straight line it makes... I know what your thinking, the box says it will not unravel but looking at it, it looks like is I did that it might unravel...

Just hang it upside down and let the side with the string dangle in the water

That's the thing with that on top the grass lays straight down. All uniform. When it down the grass hangs bending backwards and down like it should be. That's why I'm asking ;)

The way I found to be the best is to take the rope edge go all the way over pipe and down to inside of netting and when you fold it over the top pipe, the grass pops up and you have no straight edge at top or bottom!

The way I did my last blind was to build a frame on the boat and then I took the fast grass and zip tied 4 pcs to some stiff 2"x2" plastic fence from lowes for each side of the boat. The frame had brass dog snaps down the top rail on each side. Basically each side the grass would come off, roll it up and hang it in the garage between hunts, then when it's time to hunt raise up the frame, unroll a roll of grass down each side and clip it in place with snaps. It seemed like a pain, but really two guys could put it up in about 3 minutes or by myself I could do it in 5 min or less. It worked awesome, my ony real bitch was that the rolls of grass took up a lot of room on the floor of the boat when running. Worked good because we'd usually clip the grass p over our heads in the back and at eye level in the front, ou could adjust it a little different every time.

Well I've got my grass permanently attached to the frame... Any ideas to toll it up tight... Thinking about putting a peice of conduit or PVC the length of the frame and zip tying it at the bottom of the grass and backing then pull it to the inside and wrap around the frame with the backing to the outside for transport... Anyone else do anything similar?

No one ever said I had a mess hoss. I'm trying to figure out the best way to roll the grass up while being attached. If I must I can make it detachable very easily. No one didn't not take your advice. I tried it and thought it looked like shit. Too uniform. So I did it my own way and in fact looks much better IMO. especially mixed with dyed raffia it looks awesome. Ill post some picks just for you tomorrow if you would like to see.

I gotcha. Ima go get some 1" PVC tomm and paint it up and see what I can do. For some reason taps talk is giving me an error when I try to upload pics... " it was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image." So pics will have to wait jimmy.

I made my grass hang upside down. Did anyone trim theirs at the bottom? seems like its too long and would be dragging even more once got boat loaded

I am rigged as Jimmy W suggests which is the same set-up I got when I picked it up from GTrax. I have re-grassed it completely 2 times and added raffia in green and dark brown for added break-up. I never hunt big ducks w/o some other cover if possible. Cane, myrtle bushes, willow limbs to break up the silhouette of the blind. Key is to not look like a box...Oh, and hide your big moon-pie face.
