18x46 1/8 5086 never built a boat before just had to modify some for mud motors but got my hands on a hull so i went ahead and going to try it. Any input would be great.

Did mine like that too. Don't really like it as much as a hunt deck but had to do it that way so the front of my motor wouldn't hit.

Looks like ya need a tubing roller? Maybe my eyes are going bad but those look like welded cuts on the runners? Boat looks good though!

They aren't on my boat. Can't be any worse that Gatortail running flat bar from the start of the rake to the front.

Post subject:  Re: 18x46 custom boat first boat build

Wanted a huntdeck on it but i am putting a backwater 35 longtail on it so i was afraid motor would hit on this one also if i would have put hunt deck on it.
And tubing roller would be nice but hate to fork cash on something i wouldnt use much this is first complete build i have done and learned lots and am happy with it i just have to put sub floor down and paint interior and it will pretty much be down.

There's no one around you that has a set of rolls? Doesn't take a lot but its nice to weld all the braces together and roll them all at the same time.

Is that uni strut in the bottom on either side? I'm guessing that's what your bolting your boxes to?

Post subject:  Re: 18x46 custom boat first boat build

yes aluminum unistrut to bolt box to between horizontal braces so once i start running boat i can slide box forward or back to adjust load weight because it will hold tools and stuff and it will also be the seat for passengers and no gatortrax prints i wanted it to kinda look like one but being first boat i have built start to finish i never figured it would turn out as nice as it did thanks for the comments

What size tubing did you use for the gunnel? 2x2?

1.5x1.5 x.125 put a metal blade on table saw and cut it down the side to slide it over the hull side

I used extruded gunnel on my last one and it turned out alot cleaner looking than the ones in the past.

Boat looks great man . What angle are your sides at and how much did you cut off the bottom to pull in for the narrow front?

Putting it on my 1648 War Eagle. Should scoot pretty good!

Post subject:  Re: 18x46 custom boat first boat build

Is that the 648LVD 16x48 War Eagle you are talking about? That rig has an 8 degree dead rise hull on it I will be curious to see how it runs. Did you get the short or the tall transom for this and did you get the 59 or 71 tail.

I am looking for a good boat to put either a 27 or 35 on but it is hard as hell to find any that don't have any dead rise that is over 16 feet with a V rake. I found one that was a 15X48 flat bottom man I bet that would scoot with a 35 on it, even a 27.

Thanks for sharing
Phil

I've got a 648LDV. It has a 16" transom and I'm going with the shorter SS frame. I have a 23hp Back Water on it now and it moves along very well!
