 Dual Rig Opinions
So... im closing in on getting my second motor completed as soon as Calen gets me my parts and I am now looking into what size of rig I am going to be running. I would like to do a 20/72, 32-36" side, true square boat with hatches and compartments very similar to Missles boat. I have drawn up the rough idea and dimensions for this rig but I was wondering if anyone out there has ever had a dual rig and regretted doing it. This is going to be a lot of money and I just want some opinions on people who have been there and done that. I dont beleive I will go for a hunt deck again as when I back up and water comes onto the hunt deck and waves it really pushes the back of the boat down under water.
I am looking at a dual rig for few reasons. -Safety (1 loose wire on motor stranded me in an iceberg river last winter...) -Load Carrying capability (my 1860 wont carry a huge load in deep water) -Stability
I would be interested in any opinions that you guys with dual rigs may have.

 Re: Dual Rig Opinions
I loved my dual gtrs. Had a motor fail a few times and was able to limp back to the ramp at least. It doesn't add as much to your top end as you would think. But I could carry almost any load 30 mph which is really nice. I never regretted it but came to the conclusion not long ago that I needed a fishing boat and a hunting boat.
The size you are looking at should carry a load and draft pretty shallow. Good luck!

With sides that tall, why not go with a hunt deck? That way, your false transom can be the same height as the sides, and you'll never have to worry about water coming over the back. Without a hunt deck, your sides might as well stay at 20" with the transom. Just a thought.

 Re: Dual Rig Opinions
I would consider a hunt deck as lone as it was higher than the 1860GTR hunt deck. Waves just wash up on that too easy and it really pushed the boat down. a 21" transom hunt deck would be ok. I would like a full 20 foot boat plus the Hunt deck making it 21' or so + or - but im not sure if they make alimunum sheeting in greater than 20' sheets.. a 21 foot boat would be ok with me
I will be going with poly bottom and sides very similar to that of the RDG boat designs. .125 the whole boat.

 Re: Dual Rig Opinions
I wouldn't go without the hunt deck. I can flood mine in reverse and it never causes a problem no water in the boat

 Re: Dual Rig Opinions
What will this boat be used for ? Will the motors be modded?
