I was riding in a friends excel mud buddy special edition boat today. Noticed when we where running the bow seemed to sit low in the water. Really noticed it at wide open throttle. Does a mud motor not pick the bow up at speed like a out board? This boat has never been a speed demon. 35 sport with dual exhaust, mikuni carb and hammer prop. With a moderate load the engine was turning about 3900-4000 around 22-25mph. I am wondering if the floatation in the bow is water logged. Or if the bow laying down like that is just the nature of the boat. The boat stays out side and rain water could soak the floatation I suppose. |

most ive ever seen, as the rake rises going from back to front, the top rail arcs down. makes for a wet ride in light waves too |

From what I've seen the excel boats with a mud motor plow the water. |

It is probably plowing water because the boat is hooked. |

Is it a flat bottom or mod v? Buddy of mine has a 16x ? mod v and it rides pretty low in the front. I don't like the way they cut the sides down or how the boat is broke up. |

I bought a new 1860swv4f4 and it comes right out of the water. Met some big river cruisers the other day and hit 3-4 foot rollers. stayed completly dry. Hae no complaints what so ever and nothing to support that they are junk. Great boat! Would guess his foam is water logged. |

Not real sure, since it's not my boat. But it is the mud buddy excel special edition with out a hunt deck. Mainly since I was getting ready to order me a new boat. Is a boat plowing with a mud motor typical or do they normally lift the bow like a regular outboard. |

They run flat and the bow should be lower than a normal outboard. However, the rake should be out of the water. if the rake is in the water it's going to plow and not achieve the performance that the motor is capable of. |

Excel boats typically run very flat. I had one for 2 years and that's how it ran. Pretty much every Excel I have seen with mudmotors runs this way. Pull up as many Youtube videos of Excel boats with mudmotors as you can and you will see this is a common way they run. |
