Post **Fishing/Duck boat build ,has this been done?**
Alright folks,

Here is what I am brain storming with.
I love to fish and to duck hunt.

Has anyone done a rear deck like this?
Will it work?
Am I living a pipe dream?

Critique my idea!!

Pete Willett at WC Custom would be the builder to talk to. I think he's in East Texas close to you as well. Good luck!

Go with a cc rig if you like to fish. Have a full rear deck up to the console. Or you could do a side console.

Get a removable deck...something you can take out when hunting..

Rarely hunt out of the boat.

I seen the removable deck from Gator Trax I like that idea.

Build it like a bass boat with a side console. 4' front deck, and 4' back deck. Should be plenty room to fish. Go ahead and plan on modding the motor with that big boat.

Your tiller handle will probly hit the deck if you smack a stump.
It hurts your hand too

Get a regular lay out, then have a back deck built with legs that is removable, lock it down in the boat with turn buckles.

Post Re: **Fishing/Duck boat build ,has this been done?**
Yea he is going to try it out stock first.

The camo boat I first posted is an 1860 with 3/16 bottom, 24" sides, full floor, 30 gal livewell in rear, 20 gal fuel tank in front, and full floatation. With stock motor it pushed 3 people and 10 gallons of fuel 22. With stage 2 mods and same load pushed it 25. All on calm days in 10-15' of water.

For my partner (320 lbs) We built a
2160
3/16 bottom
9 - 2x2 long runners
36" tall sides
6" thick wall pipe for front nose
6' front deck
Center console
32" rear hunt deck with diamond plate
12" enclosed cat walks
Removable rear deck

Set up for duals but just have a single stock motor on it right now

True numbers with a little wear on the prop in a 15 mph wind with just me ran 23 with the wind and 22 against

With me and my partner, again he's easy 320 pounds, 22 with the wind and 21 against the wind. And this thing is so big it catches a lot of wind.

He and I both know its not ideal with stock motor but we were super surprised it did that well with a stock motor. He is saving for another motor though. I need to get some more pics of it because we are just working on it a tiny bit at a time but here are some pics of when we were working on the hull itself

You build a hell of a boat Pete, but I'd have to see those speeds with my own eyes to believe it.

I'm not knocking it, but what is the purpose of removing the corners of the transom?

I really like the console design. Looks like a Yellowfin or a Sea Vee!

I put a sport deck on mine because something got messed up on my measurement for the hd. The front of the GTR frame was hitting the false transom so I had to do it like that.

It's better than a regular transom for keeping water out of the boat but still not as good as a hunt deck.

The way it was planned.

What I ended up with.
