Finally a surface drive transom support...... That is not a ratchet strap and a block of wood! We at Cottonmouth proudly introduce the
SD TRAIL PRO a universal surface drive transom support adjustable from 30"-44". We will also offer special lengths and bends upon request. The SD TRAIL PRO can be purchased on our website.

Cool. Does it hold the motor in place pretty well? The way it's attached to the trailer, it looks like it's still kinda free floating like it would still bounce up until the transom saver hit the bottom of the boat.

It's very stable.... The straps and turf give it a nice cushion while the pin in the skeg prevents any up or down motion. We've tried many designs before arriving at this one and have been very pleased with the results.

So what if you don't use straps from your boat to your trailer? Seems to me the safest way is motor to boat not motor to trailer.

If you don't tie your boat down then no it wouldn't help much. the purpose is not just to keep the motor straight or from bouncing but to take stress off the transom.

Post subject:  Re: New Product!

I guess if someone chose not to strap their boat to the trailer, the boat could bounce up, the hinge on the device would allow both boat and motor to move upward. Then when the boat came back down the hinge would allow the device to follow the movement of the boat. When the boat came back to rest on the trailer, the momentum of the motor would ordinarily put great stress on the transom. With this device, that force would be transferred to the trailer instead. So it would still do its job if the boat wasn't strapped to the trailer, although abviously that's not the point of the design. If you put a brace or "transom saver" between the motor and the boat, it may keep the motor from bouncing, but would do nothing to take the downward and rearward stress off of the transom. Same with strapping the motor down with or without a block of wood. (Thats my rig in the pictures, by the way :) )

Gooberheads that don't tie their boat down could probably care less about their motor too :-)

I know roads in la. arent good enough to not have to tie a boat down to the trailer....

Your website wasn't working properly on my work computer with all the filters and crap. I saw it listed on there when I got home. Thanks though. Website looks pretty good, btw.

I know Corey mentioned in his original post that the device is universal, I just wanted to point out that it will work (so I'm told) on Gatortails and most other mud motors-not just Pro Drives.

(I'm not affiliated with his business, by the way.)

Lol docott is one of my favorite guinea pigs! He is correct we have tested it on multiple motors and rigs. By the way docott I bounced down our beautiful Louisiana roads today and it was impressive to say the least.

Hell I made one, and the above comments are correct, all it does is keep mine from going side to side and somewhat up and down, depending on how rough the road is.

I'm just looking to keep my motor riding higher than it does on the GT bracket. What is every doing that has their bunks right on the frame of the trailer?

Carriage bolts thru the top of the frame rail with a beveled edge on the back so your boat isn't hitting a flat ended board when you load and unload. Run the boards several inches past your transom so it doesn't hook your boat.

Post subject:  Re: New Product!

Yeah I get dropping the bunks and attaching them to the trailer. I'm asking about if people are doing anything different to trailer their motors so they don't drag. Seems to me the motor would ride really close to the ground in back if I lower my boat by 4-5 inches.
