Just started my little baby midget boat. 1242 with 18" sides all .090. Going to put 3 1x2 braces in the bottom with maybe 2 2x2 or 1x2 braces going across. Got a 4'6" rake and going to have about a 18-24" deck. No seats or boxes in it. Might build a base to pull in and out when I need for me but going to have a lt on it for now and no need to sit!!! Hoping to have it in the water next weekend if I can get the bottom braces rolled Monday.

Deck and grab rails put on. Used a piece of gunnel for the brace at the end of the deck and turned out pretty nice looking!

Braces and transom tacked on. And I can still pick the front and the back up with one hand without a strain.

Post subject:  Re: The midget boat

that boat your building reminded me of this one that was built by cottonmouth 10x36. sick little boat, they put a 6hp copperhead and was getting top speeds from 23-25mph

Post subject:  Re: The midget boat

That tiny copperhead had enough prop to push that boat 28 mph? That's hard to believe.

Post subject:  Re: The midget boat

That's pretty badass then. I just didn't think it would swing enough prop to see that MPH. Sweet.

Post subject:  Re: The midget boat

yea i didnt mean to give the wrong top speeds. but 25mph on a 1036 is badass

Author:  ak [ Thu Nov 28, 2013 6:54 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: The midget boat

25 on a 1036 would feel like 45 I put my 20hp on my 1236 and i was skeered

Post subject:  Re: The midget boat

My pops has a 12' baja scat cat with a 40 merc with a little work and a chopper prop...that thing's made to go fast, and a little over 50 in it is hairy so I could imagine a baby skiff.

But then again, that little 12' boat went 94 mph with a 225 Pro Max in the early 90's...

A 225 on a 12' boat? I'd love to see how a 12' boat floats a 225 outboard!

Post subject:  Re: The midget boat

13', my mistake. This is a fiberglass catamaran we're talkin bout, and a 2.4L 225...not a 3L like the big ones today. They weren't as heavy. Ill see if I can find a pic of it. I think everything was up under the bow, maybe some extra weight too. It looked dumb.
