Re: Few pics of new boat blind construction
Should have made a crossbar that the connections are connected to in the middle. Now you have to unscrew the blind every time you wanna take it off. You may not care. Here is how mine is setup. I have 2 pins on each end of the main pole with the bimini connections like you have screwed to the deck. I' pull the pins and the whole blind is lifted to my ceiling for storage. Cross bar setup.
In this pic you can see the connection.
This is not the hull I have now, but when I swapped hulls, all I had to do is change the crossbar because the new hull was wider. Everything else fell in place.

Is it best to re-cure a rusted black iron pot on a burner?in the oven?or in an open fire? Just a lil surface rust....found an old pot.

Re: Few pics of new boat blind construction
i find the best way to season a black pot is to build a fire put pot in fire and put vegetable oil in pot approx. 1/2 gallon then take old mop and slosh oil around in pot as fire heats it up do this until oil catches fire in pot then pull flaming pot from fire and continue to slosh oil with mop rubbing mop on outside of pot also flip pot over and lrt oil drain while still mopping pot let cool slowly once cool clean and its ready to cook with.
note: mop will catch on fire so be carefull

Re: Few pics of new boat blind construction
We debated crossbar vs screwing right into the fore-deck. We opted for screwing in the deck 'cause it was quicker. We could have used those recessed inserts like in the first pic, too, but got lazy. Did you rivet those Bimini end caps? I found that the little screws were not reliable and worked loose so we riveted them to the pole. Couple slight design flaws noted after installation: have to take stand up bar down to raise blind and have to rip through netting to insert stand up pole after lowering the blind. We sacrificed the convenience of leaving the stand up pole up in order to get the right width and height of the bars for optimum shooting comfort.
