First post! So the time has come that my passion for duck hunting has outgrown my current rig. (14ft polarkraft MV68, 20hp yamaha) I mainly hunt the upper hudson and mohawk rivers, as well as striper fish the hudson. During late season i need a boat strong enough to break thin ice coats. and one thats shallow enough to float about 1' of water. (surface drive not an option, mind is made up on outboard.) Those from the area know the hudson river in december and january can be quite frightening. Its channel nearing 45' deep and 300yards wide in some parts, the catskill mountains to the west, and Berkshires to the east creating a windy environment. Ive been doing alot of research lately on the different MFG'rs. And pretty much narrowed it down to 2 different companies. I have had a couple different Xpress boats with outboards. They are fine boats for what you are planning to do with it. The fit and finish is pretty good and the customer service is good as well, I would recommend upgrade to the 90 h.p. if you can. Why not have all the power you can have right? Always go with the max hp on a package deal like that. They put the smallest Hp they can get away with to make more money. I know more than one person thats in that situation right now. |

The dealer offers the boat with a 40-50-60hp. The upgrade to 60HP is only 1300$ more, Im assuming the to get a 90hp will be over 2600$, not sure that fits my current budget. I appreciate the insight! |

Not sure how a tunnel hull actually works to know it will freeze or not. Temps are usually 0-10 deg at the end of the season. |
