16x44 gator trax with 32 prodrive and only runs 23mph with me and 6 gallons of gas in it! turning right @ 3540 rpm's! Any ideas why it's going so slow? Just bought the boat from previous owner and says he put a brand new prop on it and only ran in deep water! Kind of believe him since he was a turtle trapper from iowa!

Does your leading edge prop tip feel really sharp?

Whats the bottom of your hull look like?

no prop is not sharp at all! Bottom of hull hardly even has a scatch on it, not the first dent in it what so ever!

yeah we was in the 1744 trax this morning and that prodrive was running next to us when we was at half throttle. we had a full tank of gas, two people 200 lbs each, sac of deeks, 3 mojos and a mallard machine, 2 batteries and a blige pump, ooh and 2 packs of cigarettes and a lighter.

UF's boat has floatation in it, no matter where you trim it at its still not fast like it should be.

did the owner put a 32 prop or a 36 prop? with a heavy boat and a brand new 36 wheel that wheel might be to much, since pd have some props that are a little bigger than they are supose to be so as they wear a little they run better......just what ive seen.

Thanks for all the help, been out of town all week working up in toledo bend! Had a buddy take the boat to pro drive today, talked with them on the phone and said that this sounded really slow to them as well. Thinking it's the carb. now though, seems like i'm getting awful gas milage compared to everyone else, but i'll keep you posted as I find out!

I can't believe nobody caught that... he's turning 3950 out of the water, and 3540 in the water. you need to be higher than that! you need to turn that motor up to 4200 rpm's out of the water, and your motor needs to be going 3800-4000 in the water while you're driving!
