The ice was about 1/2" thick here today and conditions were like yours. It would push forward until a bunch of ice built up, then reverse back then do over again. After I opened up a short stretch of broken ice/water I was able to get back on top of it. It was hell The Sheriff had use his air boat to rescue a group of La guys across the river in a GD LT. Story is the guys hand was numb and lost grip on the handle, when he tried to go again it would push through it. They were in a narrow ditch and naturally the tide was out so they couldn't turn around |

Yeah, it was the first time I have seen it that bad. My buddy had the biggest O SHIT look on his face when we first hit the ice because had his back to the wind and didn't know what happened. It sounded like the bottom of the boat was on gravel. |

if you know what you are doing them boats will break 2-3" of ice.... what will get you is when you turn. we usually have to deal with anywhere from 1/2' to 6" of ice the last 2 weeks of duck season in this are |

Junior ramped his boat in 3 degree weather in Arkansas the other day then noticed there was 3 inches of solid ice between boat bottom and trailer bunks. His boat was a bit sluggish all day. |

I give you guys a lot of props! It's pretty cool how you guys have learned how to run through the ice. Goes to show how truly tough these motors and operators are! |

Wish I could get my buddy Ralph to send me the short video he took of us last week of the season up here running ice. My Phowler with dual PD and five men breakin 3-4" of ice and running rebroke ice stacked up 4-8" thick in the main channel!!! We were sliding over ridges up to a foot high of piled up stuff on the way in. The low that morning was 3 degrees and the high that day was only 14, she was making ice all day. PW |
