Congrats on the new rig. Every time this question comes up the majority says to take that shit out. Only Giga will tell you to replace it.

If the foam is waterlogged I can see pulling it out, or if you were doing some mods. But would you not want to replace it so if somehow you swamp the thing it doesn't sink? I removed all foam for mods but am adding it back wherever I can and am shooting for the same volume of foam just so if by some freakish accident I take on that much water it lingers at the surface instead of sinking to the bottom. If waterlogged it will be heavy otherwise you arent cutting much weight with foam removal.

Buddy took the floor out and used a pressure washer to blast it out. removed the foam but didn't damage anything else.

I had a boat with foam and it was heavy so i assumed the foam was waterlogged I cut my front deck and floor out and the foam was dry as could be. Im just saying you need to make sure the boat is heavier than it should be with a scale before you cut your boat up for nothing like i did.

I just drilled the rivets out took the flooring off and cut the foam where the split seats are . Let it sit out in the sun for a day and it dried up then I put it back in . Just the bottom of the foam was wet , not the entire piece.

Thanks for the advice. The boat is diffinatley to heavy. It's an 04 boat so my guess most of the foam is no longer any good. What other ways can I reduce weight? I'm moving the gas tank from the back of the boat to the front . To reduce weight in the back of the boat.

Remove that damn deck and split seat. I'll put you in a nice center seat.

I like the deck and split seat. I doo wanna take weight off but there's some things that are not negotiable . I like that set up. I might just have to settle with the way it is . Yes that would make it lighter minus any sitting room

Why not take out the back deck both seats and put a seat infront of the console, and a seat behind it. That would put more weight upfront and reduce the weight in the back significantly

Good old circular saw and a pressure washer. Need the "rotating concrete" tip. Make sure you wear a face mask with goggles under it, long sleeve t-shirt and gloves. Its not a fun job but can do it in a couple of hours. Took a garbage can of foam out and took two people to drag it to the street after the water ran out of the can. The foam was definitely water logged and made some pitting in the aluminum.

What's sucks is I'll have to make a whole on the inside of my front hunt deck. But I'm pretty sure it will be water logged, especially in the floor. Thanks for the tips guys !

I would like to remove that back deck and slide those bench seats back. That would give me room for a seat behind and infrony of the console.

I might remove the deck behind the seats and slide the seats back in there place. I like how the set up is. I don't want a boat hull and no seating. Nice having room for others to sit not obstructing my view sitting on the front deck.i have no use for the back deck. I do like the storage under the side seats. Other then that I have no storage.

Post subject:  Re: removing foam from my boat ?

I want to slide back the benches and and console ( which is more to the front of the boat then center ). I'm removing the foam in the front . Not ripping the front deck off. If I wanted a boat with just a hull I could sale the boat and buy just a hull. Where I'm cutting the deck on the boat , I am putting the gas tank there. I'm rearranging the boat for room for me and others to sit in a pop up blind ( main reason I'm moving the benches and console back ). I understand what ur saying nasty , but I like the benches in the back.
