 3/16 5052 vs 3/16 5086
Hey guys still researching on all the different options and etc on custom aluminum boats and wanted yalls take on 3/16 5052 vs 3/16 5086. I have contacted quite a few custom builders on here and the afore mentioned is the general variance. This boat will not be hitting tons of obstacles in the water other than the occasional rock when beaching and oyster reefs in the bay. It will most likely be around a 20ft boat with a outboard. I know this is a mud motor site but hands down yall are the definitive experts on custom made aluminum. I did do searches on here and with google. I could not find much on 3/16 5052 in comparison to 3/16 5086. Thanks for any and all help.

5086....just a stronger alloy for these boats. Not even worth worrying about.

 Re: 3/16 5052 vs 3/16 5086
5052 is fresh water resistant.
5086 is salt water resistant.
5086 need a larger radius when you brake it or it will crack.
Go with 5086 because it is much harder that 5052.

5086. Hands down. If your going custom you may as pay a little more for quality.
