Post subject: | Go-Devil foam under the floor |
I have a Go-Devil 16x44 boat and I removed the water logged foam under my floor this weekend and was wondering do I really need to put foam back under the floor or just leave it out. And what kind of foam to put back if I did that won't soak up water? Thanks. |

I took mine out last week as well. I called Go Devil and they cut new pieces for me. I would put it back. It only weighs maybe 5-10 pounds at most. Alumimum with no flotation = sink |

Go-Devil sent me another flotation pod to set in the back of the boat to be Coast Guard approved. Did they get a hold of you guys? |

Could you post a picture of that new pod.... To the original poster - your inside floor and your bottom hull are "reinforced" by the foam which fits snugly between them and uses the bottom to stiffen the floor and the floor to stiffen the bottom.... I had a 16x44 which I bought used where the foam had been removed but not replaced - it caused the bottom to hook in only a few runs and the floor was soft also... It is worth the effort to replace it with factory spec replacement foam - about $ 75 I believe with new rivets too.... |

giga- from where the floor starts at the back of the boat, it comes out (probably 24" or more) well past the battery, they have to move the battery back behind the box |

So you stand on it ??? Or it is parallel to the existing pods ??? |

its not parallel, it would be right behind your feet, it kinda makes like a back deck on your boat, when cocoa put it in my boat just to see what it would look like, it made it real cramped, |

Where would be the best place to pick up some closed cell foam? or should I just call go-devil and get new sent to me? |

I will go that route, Is it just the sheets that is used to wrap houses and do you just cut it and layer it or does it come thick enough? |

When the foam was removed from my floor, (and it was nasty) I just had them put a little heavier aluminum down for the floor. It worked out great. |

So what yall are saying is that, there is foam under where you stand? I checked my foam in the side pods and front and it is soaking wet. Im fixin to remove the front foam and cut a whole for extra storage. Im running a 16-60. |

Not worried about the floatation as much as I am about the boat getting hooks in the bottom, I think that I will go the Lowe's or Home Depot route. |
