Currently trying to sell my whole rig but have had some interest in just the motor. If I can get the motor sold I'm not opposed to adding a console to my current hull and putting an outboard on it. Question is which outboard would I get the best bang for my buck.

Only looking at yamaha 4 strokes and particularly the f70 but I almost feel that it might be too much for my hull. How would the f50 or f60 push this hull viewtopic.php?t=48933 currently getting 31 empty and 28 with a heavy load out of the stage 2.

Really? Just seeing how the boat does with whatever hp a stage 2 had plus the loss in efficiency I figured a 40 would somewhat match the current performance and figured 90 would be a way overpower.

I just swapped from a stage 2 PD to the Yamaha F70. Only ran it last weekend for about 5 hours and love it so far.

Pretty sure I'll have to use a jack plate since it's a 21" transom and outboards are 20". It may work ok without, I would think it would cavitate.

I run a 2003 2 stroke Yamaha 50 on my 1848 Phowler (big boat) during the summer and it will run mid 30's with a 13 pitch Powertech SS REB prop. I get 23 mph with a hunting load and my stock '06 Prodrive 36 hp.

50 hp would be the minimum and 70 hp would ideal for you.

Good info. Thanks. How much water do you need to get on step?

We have a custom 16/48 with a 90 and a 6" jack plate, hole shot is incredible. Got the top three water intakes plugged, she's sitting high. Still won't run with the surface drives. Have been towed to deep water several times.
