About to pull the trigger on a new Hybrid Rake 16x44 HD Gator Trax boat. It will be strictly a hunting boat with pop up blind and head covers.

I'll let you know how it progresses...

Nice looking layout. You and barnes are meticulous. 16' going to be enough? My last one was 16x44 GD and it worked well, but said I'd go longer on the next one.

Presume you're venting the battery box? If you shim up the half box seat level with the catwalks, will it be to tall for comfort on long rides?

I bet you will like it. I have a 1754HD with the enclosed cat walks. If I buy again, I will go with 18 plus hunt deck. and of course the hybrid. I just wonder how 10 inches less on the width would be. I would also go a little longer would probably take a load better for not much more weight. Do you really want to go so narrow?

Looks good man. Only other thing I will say is I have a 1648 and when I finally get a custom built boat it will be at least 1748 if not 1848. Just saying.

What is your hunting load typically? How many guys? What motor?

Will Gtrax build hunt decks open?? I mean without the inner piece welded to the front face and to the hull and stringers. That's one thing I really don't like about my boat!

Correct, total length will be 17'8". I removed the dimension lines for clarity. I have an 18x54 now (19'6" total length). It's too long for our makeshift launch and too long and too wide to traverse our narrow trenausses. I enjoyed my boat, and the room, just too big for the lease I'm in. Will be pushing it with a 35H w/ Mikuni, they're calling it a "44s". Not sure why. False transom is still closed off to rest of hull, it's just how they're placing the fuel tanks now. My lease doesn't allow a lot of guests, so I'm carrying myself and another most of the time, hence the smaller design.

Great looking lay out.. Iam with others on length, it's always nice to have extra room if it suits your situation...

Boat looks good, what is the grab bar for behind the seat? When are the H's rolling out?

Yeah, same here. The needle grass at my lease is dead 75% of the time. The only real time it's green is during teal season. And all I need to get teal to land is a kiddie pool and two yellow rubber duckie decoys, so the brown grass up against the green back drop doesn't matter much.

I like that grass pattern alot more than the all terrain one. That size boat should be just fine for 2-3 people.

Any idea what this rig is going to perform like speed-wise with a Stock 35 + Mikuni? From what I've read, looks like 26-27 light loaded and 23-24 heavy?

The boat that I run on the lease next to your is a standard sided 1844 (no huntdeck) which I would say is about 100-125 lbs lighter than the boat you have specked out, and it runs those exact speeds with a dead stock motor. I would think that with a Mikuni and exhaust you should run slightly better than that.

Although depending on how your boat comes out, in about 2 months I'm about 99% sure that I'll be getting a new "demo" boat set up pretty damn close to what you are getting.

Update: Going to change "outboard package" which is an extra longitudinal brace to a 3/16" bottom vs 1/8"

Running a lot of stumps

So I bought a small sheet of 16 Ga Stainless to make my instrument panel with. Any idea where I can get 2" holes cleanly cut in the Stainless around Gonzales, LA area? That stuff is pretty thick.

I really like the paint. With a couple of green grass blades added, I would get that when I'm ready for a new look.
