A buddy of mine is building his new boat right now, and he wants to put a gun box in the front deck. Can y'all post some pictures if you have one to give him an idea of how he should do it, please?

Eljefe, I looked up your build thread, but it's far too big to find anything useful.

I built mine a little shorter than my deck in my first boat. Worked nice.

I'm pretty sure Willett started building those in some of his boats a few years ago. It's a great idea and it's the one thing I wish I would have done when I built my boat.

Yea his was the first and looks cool but a pain because you run out of room quick at the front. That's why we started doing them in the ext deck. Still can only go so deep but can go pretty much as wide as you want. My gun is Benelli with 28" barrel and choke sticks out maybe an inch and in a gun case it's 52" long so usually try to make the inside measurements of the frame a min of 54"

You can always put it in Caddy corner and works fine but its so nice just being able to drop in.

Heck here on my 1840 i didn't think about the 1x2 channel frame when building it and can still maneuver my gun to fit in it if I have to. My wife's is a Benelli with 26" barrel and short stock pad and goes in easy

1840

1854 with 12 gal tank (20" wide)

1848 with 2" drop and 12 gal tank (makes it little shorter)
