 Anyone ever cut a 20" transom down to 16"? Heard of it somewhere, but sounded kinda crazy. My motor is for the 16" but friends boat is 20".

Re: Anyone ever cut a 20" transom down to 16"? Not too hard, got the skill saw out, put a 2" by 3/8 strap of aluminum, and burnt it in.
what sucked was putting it back when I got the tall transom.

Re: Anyone ever cut a 20" transom down to 16"? Once I cut out the 4 inches, I took a piece of 3/8" thick, 2" wide piece of aluminum flat bar. Then I tig welded it into the top of the transom. Hope this clairifies it for you.
