 Anyone ever cut a 20" transom down to 16"?

Post Anyone ever cut a 20" transom down to 16"?
Heard of it somewhere, but sounded kinda crazy. My motor is for the 16" but friends boat is 20".

Not too hard, got the skill saw out, put a 2" by 3/8 strap of aluminum, and burnt it in.
what sucked was putting it back when I got the tall transom.

Once I cut out the 4 inches, I took a piece of 3/8" thick, 2" wide piece of aluminum flat bar. Then I tig welded it into the top of the transom. Hope this clairifies it for you.

i would cut it down only where you need it to be and leave the rest tall becuase that way they kinda act as splash boards just mu 2 cents worth
