Post Weathering Fast Grass
I am re grassing my boat blind and I am planning on using fast grass again. Last time it took about a year for this stuff to weather and not stand out so much. I am wondering does anyone have any idea how to weather it faster ( maybe spray paint) or would it be better to use camo netting and forget the fast grass?

Not suggesting you do this but I have a new set that I'm using... I rinsed my boat and forgot about one of them that was folded up. Well 1 week goes by and it molded up, rinsed it off and let it dry looks pretty good now actually...

I use Camosystems leafy camo netting Mossy Oak B/U.
I baught a mesh 8x20 tarp at Harbour freight, cut it in half , and zip tie the camo to the mesh. Camosystems also has a wind blocker I use, but you could get one of the canvas tarps HF sells.

go to home depot, get you the camo spray paint. think krylon makes it. dark brown, tan and green. spray it about 1ft away and just mix it up. it will take the gloss off of the grass and leave it in the weather open the sun will do the rest. did mine last year like that. ill try to find the pic for you to see

i added some killer weed bundles & sprayed it all down w/ waterseal from da marts (think it was actually amor all b/c they were out of thompsons). supposedly makes the grass last longer, but also darkens it up a little once dry. after dry, i sprayed some areas w/ krylon camo paint to darken it more - my marsh area is greener & darker than plain fast grass light brown.

i have used the avery fast grass the past 2 yrs and both times i hated it. its too damn heavy when its wet and doesn't last at all. im trying some military camo netting that im getting from cousin in national guard. i hope it works out better. im going to add some stuff to it to give it a more 3-d effect and hopefully that will work out.

Read this on another web site. Wet you mats then roll them up and leave them in a cool moist place for a week or 2. I tried it and worked pretty well.

I have just bought some MOJO Ghillie bundles from Cabela's. This material is already on a net and it is made of synthetic material which won't rot or get heavy like the different grasses that you can purchase. It does have a shine, but I bought a bunch of different cans of Krylon camo paint and painted the material. It looks like it is going to be awesome and should last a lot longer than any grass. Also, if you lose any of the small bundles on the net, you can order a pack of 32 to attach to the net. Each net is 5' tall and 8' long.

i sprayed mine with a garden hose, and left it laying on the driveway for a week, spraying it daily. then hung it over the fence for about 2 weeks. it darkened it up and gave the blades some curl. even though it takes some time, i too some palmettos and stripped the fronds then wove them in the mats for a subtle blend of green, i also took some flat brown paint for a shadow effect. the prob with palmetto is they die and fade to a light tan after a little while.

overspray with camo paint and let it get wet and dry a few times outside inthe sun. it will age up pretty quick.
