I'm to buy a boat and I'm just wanting some info on the transom. What's better tall or short. Plan on getting a gtr 35. |

Tall, water will get in boat reversing with short and stopping suddenly. Most guys get a tall now, a huntdeck helps with water but a tall is the best bet |

I have a short transom. Never had any issues with water coming over the transom, but when I'm running loaded in rough water I sure wish I had an extra 4" just for peace of mind. |

There are no advantages to a short transom, except maybe the top of the motor being 4" shorter if you hunt really thick woods. I hunt some very thick shit and don't see it being a game changer. |

I have a hunt deck so tall or short didn't really matter for water over the transom. I bought a tall because it seemed like they have better resale value and also I wanted to be able to put a 30-40HP outboard on it and it seems like there are more long shaft than short shaft motors around here in that HP range. On the downside--it does produce a taller profile while hunting and right now with the high water, I can't get under the bridge that goes to the north side of our lake... |

I went short on my new build because I wanted a lower profile. I also need to get under tight bridges when the water is up on the lakes. I'll have a hunt deck so water over the transom shouldn't be a concern. |

Under no circumstance get a short transom. That motor weighs a ton (not literally) compared to a 25 tiller outboard which is what the short transom are designed for. Tall all the way. I run a 35 gtr |

With a hunt deck its no issue...short motor mount and regular false transom and you wont have issues Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
