Alright I have a 1648 with gator glide that shallow water customs built for me with a 36 pro drive stock on it except for the prop and it is a Hopkins. I'm getting speeds average 25 to 26 running between 3900-4100 rpms with me (180lbs) my brother (160lbs) 10gallon gas and a 70 qt cooler full. Is that about right speeds or should it be going a little faster? Reason I'm asking I'm seeing people post that they are running higher 20s with bigger boats than mine. Just curious to hear what others have to say about it. |

Speed is not always related to the size of the boats. For example, my 1748 with a MB BD 4500 will run 26-28 with three guys, blind, 12 large body goose decoys, anchor, full tank of gas, etc etc. My buddy has GTR 35 on a 1651 excel and will top out around 25 with just him. My point is that length is not a good determiner of speed. Check out this post from a few days ago. It has a lot of helpful information. Runnin 28-30 in a 1851 F86. I've heard the gen 3 PD's are just slow. If yours is a new one. |
