Post Hull Questions
Evening fellas.

Tried the search function, that was about useless. Search whatever terms you choose relating to my questions and let me know if you find much info without four hours of sifting through the useless stuff.

I have a few questions about hulls that I'm hoping you guys can help me with. First of all, I'm not new to boats, I have owned a few different rigs, a few of which I built myself and others that I did not. I bowfish, alot. Just sold my 1648 fanboat. I am planning my next build, most likely will be going through Pierce in LA for my aluminum. Sucks, it's almost $600 just for shipping to Ohio. After living here for 6 years, I have yet to find a shop that 1) can break or crimp anything over 10 feet long 2) have any clue what I'm talking about any way. It's frustrating to say the least. I'm going to build either a 1670 or 1770 for shooting fish and ducks. I want to power it with a SD.

Why do most mud boats have super short sides? I know the obvious reason of being a shallow water rig, but is there anything else? I plan to go with 29" sides. Is it an added weight issue?

Are most mud hulls beam tapered to the width of the bottom in the front, or is even the bottom tapered to an even more narrow size?

What's the typical mud rig transom height?

Does anyone on here run a 70+" bottom boat? I'd love to see pictures and hear specs/performance.

Are most mud hulls beam tapered to the width of the bottom in the front, or is even the bottom tapered to an even more narrow size? From where your rake will start on you can taper the bottom in a few inches on both sides or keep it square thats up to you and whether or not you like curves.

What's the typical mud rig transom height? 21" the actual length is somwhere round 21 5/8 but with the 17-20* angle they are at calls for them to be slightly taller so the motor will sit at a true 21. If they were built 21 the motor height would be 20 1/2 or so.

Does anyone on here run a 70+" bottom boat? I'd love to see pictures and hear specs/performance. Thats a large bottom for one motor. Most guys run from 44"-60" with a single motor. Anything bigger is mostly reserved for dual rigs.. or modded motors
