Post subject: | 2272 Bay Boat Build, UPDATED |
It ain't a mud boat, but figured there's enough boat builders on here to appreciate a build thread on this build. Started on this last Sunday morning. Making pretty good headway, but is fixing to really slow up with duck season coming in next weekend, and rifle season coming in the following weekend where I hunt. Boat is 20' and will have a 2' gill bracket, with a 22'3" LOA 6' Bottom 15 Deg Deadrise though entire hull 3/16 bottom, 1/8" sides 5' front deck with two separate dry storage areas 4" catwalk gunwales 40 gallon built in fuel tank center console with live well/seat in front of console rear deck with storage and seating. I'm sure theres something I'm forgetting, but yall get the idea. Justin |

I think the guy I'm building it for is planning on hanging a 150 Yamaha on it. |

Got the front deck framed in today and the catwalks on the gunwales. Just about ready to flip it over and take care of the welding in the bottom. |

Awesome work as always Justin. Please talk me out of it, but before long we may have to see about building either a new offshore boat or an air boat as my next horrible investment. Again, please talk me out of it. Keep up the good work. |

Good job man, this thing looks awesome. How did you go about drawing out the radius for your bottom sheets? I've always used this wood strapping or material laying around and measured out the belly. I'm just curious on this because you can't afford to be even a little off on something like this and it came out perfect. |

I rolled the boat over the Friday before the coastal zone opener, but hadn't done much since then. Had a function I needed to stay home for this weekend, so I finally got around to welding out the bottom and starting to put the lifter strakes on. Justin |

Post subject: | Re: 2272 Bay Boat Build |
Not much. I had finsihed up welding the bottom out, and the lifter strakes, and got the boat rolled back over and back into tmy barn. Been hunting since and hadn't touched it. With the rut probably getting ready to start up in the next few weeks where I hunt, I probably won't get much more done on it till hunting season is over. I'm off next week and might be home a few days before Christmas and work on it some. I need to get my rigging tubes run, and pour foam in the hull, which I'm not looking forward to. Once I get that out the way I can get the floor welded in and I'll have it by the balls then. |

Thanks for all the kind words! I'm pleased with how its coming out, but have a few things I would tweek on the next one. He's planning on purchasing a 150 or 200 fourstroke for it, but he's still shopping around for what brand he's gonna run. I think the boat will run great with either motor, I think the 150 would be about perfect. Ill try and get some more pictures up after this weekend, I should be close to wrapped up with all the major fitting anf fab work by then. Justin |

Good to see what a 72 looks like. Being that I might have a 18' or 19' / 72" built. I'm wanting to stay 18' but might go 19' |

When I finsih this one, I got a couple mud boat hulls to do this summer, then I'm starting on for my self to use at our place in Venice. Going with this same basic hull design and construction, 15 deg dearise, but going to be 26' with a 8' bottom and a 9'6" beam running twin 150's. THing should be a beast for duck hunting, trout fishing, and fishing the closer rigs. |

That will be the shit ! I'd use it just wouldn't get to my lease. I'm putting dual 37 EFI GTR's on my rig to get to the hard to reach places to fish and yet still fish deep water if I want. Keep us posted on that next build as well that will be sweet ! |

Boat Looks great. I envy the talent you builders have to design and build these hulls. I love seeing build threads so please keep the pictures coming. What's your side depth on this hull? I'm also having a 2172 center console bay boat built by someone on this board. Should be starting real soon. He's got some great things in mind for this boat and I'm impressed with his ideas and his knowledge every time I talk with him. |

More or less done with the build part of this boat. Got one or two little details to finsih up, and plenty holes to cut in it or all the rigging. Then it's time to prep and paint. |
