 opinions on construction
Alright men, I have decided to sell my fishing boat and keep the mud boat. To do that I am going to have to do some changes to the mud boat. I have decided to drop a decent amount of coin to make a front upper/removable deck with lights for bow fishing and foundering, a cast deck for sight casting reds and a rear poling platform.
So the thought process is to creat something that does not affect anything already in place. In other words I don't want to give up on tiller swing to put a poling platform in. Traditional platforms are 4 legged. I am making one which is two legged basing it off of the transom. So your opinions on gussets would be appreciated. Here is a crude design sketch to give you the idea of what I am working with.

 Re: opinions on construction
Bottom design does look better. Might want to add one more pole to the front, coming straight down to the boat. If not ya might have the scissor effect and come tumblin down.

 Re: opinions on construction
Don't want no wet ass for sure. I am 300 pounds so it has to be made strong. I got home a minute ago and looked at it. The two vertical tubes will be made out of 2 inch by 1/4 inch aluminum. I recon that ought to hold my big arse. Anybody here an aluminum guy that can find out the bend strength of 2"x1/4" aluminum tube?

 Re: opinions on construction
Hello Shockwave, I forgot all about Boatright's design. I made a blind for my buds 24 foot boatright and the rear push tower is just what I m looking for. I can't believe I forgot that design. It is perfect. I just have to run the vertical at the same angle as the transom so as not to interfere with the tiller handle. I can turn the moor far enough where it is vertical above the right rear corner of the boat or the left rear corner of the boat. Where is your shop?
