I wish I could contribute more before I just got on the site and asked a question, but I know nothing about mud motors.

I have a 12/36 lowe jon and I am looking to put a mud motor on it to run in shallow water. I will not be running over any mud/debris on purpose because of the relatively thin hull, but I need to get back into the shallow water for duck hunting.

I am in the process of adding pods, and strengthening the hull to prepare my boat for the added weight of a MM.

I generally have about 550 lbs including people and gear and am looking for a motor to run on plane.

I also like the small boat so that I can hide it, and I sometimes convert it to a layout boat when I am hunting alone. So I do not want to get a bigger boat.

My Q's are:

What HP would you reccomend for this boat to achieve the same performance of a 15hp outboard?

Would you suggest a mudbuddy mini hyperdrive or a long tail? Why?
