What's the consensus regarding blind netting and backing these days. Did an exhaustive search and have found recommendations for just about everything--bird netting, plastic fencing, cordura, screen fabric, you name it. Screening from the wind isn't that big of an issue for me. I'm a duck-hunter for chrissake! I've had blinds with the bird netting and also heavy duty Aero fab netting. The one I'm replacing now has the green plastic poultry fencing. I'm thinking of going back to the bird netting as it was lightweight(much lighter than the Aero fab). I don't want a "solid" backing like tarp, cordura, or nylon. What's everybody's experience with the durability and utility of what you used on your blinds? |

I used the camo systems netting and it did alright, I had camo cordura backing too though. The nice part was it was basically the right size for my boat right outta the box |

I plan on covering the netting with Fastgrass. My experience with that stuff is that everything catches on it and it ends up tearing and snagging. |

I initially did mine with fastgrass and I didn't care for how easy the fastgrass got moldy and brittle. I hunted it with fastgrass for teal season and replaced it with raffia for big duck season. Have you tried using snow fence? |

I was about to pull the trigger on some netting that is used for baseball/golf cages last fall and then decided on something local for expediency. I think it would work well and last a long time and may try it again next time around. |

Out here in CA, we don't have much need for snow fence and all the stuff I've seen has been orange which I don't want. I've been pretty happy with the real Fastgrass--not so much with the cheap Avery imitation stuff which does not hold up well at all. My last blind I used Rit dye to dye one side of it darker for different habitat and locations. Then, I used Thompson's Water Seal on it to give it some water repellency. It held up very well and the Thompson's keeps it from getting moldy I think. I like the Fastgrass over the Raffia for the look it gives. Just looks more natural to me. Maybe the ducks don't care. Anyway, back to netting--I'm tending to come full circle after trying some of the plastic stuff. I'm starting to think that the netting that came with my first Mudbuddy blind might have been the way to go after all. It was light, fairly durable and easy to attach grass to. Was just wondering whether any of you guys have found something else that fits the bill even better. |

Don't know anybody that uses those type of nets but is the netting on trawling nets different than other nets? |

What about volley ball nets? You'll probably need a net for each side but should do great for what your planning on doing with the fast grass. |

If you can can still buy those mojo leafy sheets they have a good netting on the back of them as well. |

Shouldn't curl up if it's secured to the blind frame, will it?? My main concern was how well it would withstand securing grass to it and securing it to the frame with zip-ties. How durable is the stuff? Will Zip-ties pull through it and break the plastic? |

I have used tennis nets for 30 years. It is a little bulky, but does not snag on every corner or piece of metal in the boat. If it does snag it is easy to pull loose since it is very tough. i used to cut burlap into strips and thread it through the netting, but I now use All Terrain pattern Killer Weed and zip locks. I would get retired nets from my sister who was a college coach, but if you have an in with a park district or college you might be able to get some. |
