Post Stenciling boat - clear coat
I plan on repainting and stenciling my boat sometime before season this year. (No giant rush, there are fish to be caught)

I have searched all over the depths of the interweb and have not gotten a good answer. Once the base and stencil has been laid down, what kind of clear and hardener should be used to seal it up? Yeah, I know. "It's a hunting boat" and all that, but I want it to look right. I'm guessing a satin clear over everything. I'll be painting the inside and outside of the boat.

I'm undecided on the pattern, but the base will be a fresh coat of GoDevil Green. So I'll use a pattern that has some sort of green base. I really like Pro-Drive's camo with the old style woodland pattern with some grass over it. My Hydroturf and GatorGlide are both a light grey color.

I'll be doing all the prep myself and have strongly considered spraying it as well. In the event that I dont, can you guys recommend a painter in the SETX/SWLA area who can lay down a nice paint job without me taking out another mortgage? I have everything to do it with but would prefer that it's at least sprayed in a booth. The humidity is generally terrible even on a "dry" day.

I think DB8 had the best thread on "rattle can camo" back about 2 years ago....

Quick search did not get me the original thread but...

Thanks Giga ;)

This one won't be rattle can, my last one was. It was ugly as home made soap but it worked. I've got a HVLP setup that I paint motorcycle frames and parts with (what I don't have powdered) so spraying it wouldn't be an issue if I chose to do it.

Ricky does great work no doubt, but I don't want to carry it that far, and honestly, I won't have that sort of budget most likely with another young'un due in Oct. It would be nice to find someone within an hour or so of me who would do me a 'good' job and not bend me over. I realize you get what you pay for but I also realize that as long as I'm busting brush in this thing it's not going to be some glittery showpiece. I just don't want it knocked down to bare aluminum every time I bump a limb.

Right - but if you do it yourself the trick is in the layering which is
why I mentioned the DB8 thread.... You might drop Deadbird8 a PM
or spend more time in SEARCH looking for his original thread - it was
a good one for DIY stenciling....

Good Luck with the project !
