 gator glide
What do you think of the gator glide--is it worth it--which would you use, the 2 0r 4? Are there other products that are similar? Thanks!

 Re: gator glide
2 things about gatorglide. 1. Shits amazing and allows you to get through some pretty nasty stuff you couldn't normally do or would struggle through 2. It makes you think you have wings and think you can make it. Its just gatorglide not an airboat

 Re: gator glide
Only reasons I didn't get it on my rig that's being built is 1) I heard it can affect your handling/turning (boat is a triple taper chine) and when running in two identical boats just one with GG when I was researching, there was a little difference. 2) Its easier to put on than take off, so if I decide to apply it down the road (and I probably will) then I just go ahead and do it

I can't think of a downside to the stuff. I have the 4 but would try the 2 next time probably.

 Re: gator glide
Gator Glide won't affect performance unless you're touching bottom or running through veggies.

 Re: gator glide
Thanks. I'm about to loose my GD put on that GG and pick up a 37 GTR this month so should be a huge jump for me. G2 or G4? How long have you had it and how often do you have to touch it up?

 Re: gator glide
Did g4 . Had it on for a year or so abd havent touched it up at all. It has flaked off at the front but the humidity here is so bad I think that affected the bonding process but that was just my mistake. Other than that spot it still looks good snd holds up fine, and anyone who knows me will tell you that im hard on things so it really is tough stuff. I'll probably end up re applying it next summer

 Re: gator glide
I'm pretty rough on mine too. I'll also be fighting that humidity too. I'm just south of you. What color mix did you get?

 Re: gator glide
I put slate GatorGlide G2 on mine last weekend, let it sit 3 days, put it on the trailer and will probably run it this evening or tomorrow. I sat it flat on the ground and could move the boat around on dry grass pretty easily just by myself. You can slide it between the bunks with the boat/motor/accessories fully assembled with one hand. It's made of unicorn jizz and fairy farts. Don't try to copy it, it's an extremely volatile mix that can spontaneously erupt, covering you in slippery rainbows and can cause homo tendencies sometime in the future... It's happened to a few members here. The side affects are terrible.
In short, pick your color, pick the 2 or 4, follow the instructions to a T, wait for the best weather day possible considering where you're at, put it on, let it cure well, wear your seatbelt, keep hands and feet inside the ride at all times.

 Re: gator glide
The stumps have been rough on this hull. I want to at least fill the corrosion pits before putting GG. Is JB weld the best thing to use? Do I need to fill the scratches or should the Gator Base lay in them fine?

 Re: gator glide
I have not read all above but if you have not, you should wash the bottom with a 30% vinegar and water solution to get the corrosion out of the pits. I like to neutralize that with a tablespoon or two of baking soda and water. Yes you can use JB weld, I've found it sticks to aluminum better than any other epoxy putty I've used. That being said nothing sticks as well as GatorBase and it would do the job better IMO if applied in mutable thin coats.

 Re: gator glide
I tried alvins lab metal, it would work well with the boat flipped over like that. You can easily grind it if need be
