 new Bachwater Edition boat
Has anyone seen one of the new Backwater Edition Boats by Fly boatworks?? I know its not aluminum, but I am not jumping beaver dams, levee or running through stump infested swamps. I want a boat that I can hunt, and get into shinny water to fish with. I think this boat might fit the bill.

Without a proven history of running with a Gator Tail type surface dirve, I would steer clear of this boat. The transom angle will not be compatible.

it is running a 37hp longtail, not a surface drive.

As long as you were running stumps or anything it wouldn't be a bad idea I don't think. What about the weight of it and speeds.
Definitely a good looking hull!!

 Re: new Bachwater Edition boat
I talked to a guide that uses it, and he said that the hull w no motor weighs in at 500lbs or so (also what the builder states). he said loaded with 3 people and gear, he still gets upper teens to low 20's. He also stated that the shallow water performance is outstanding, and it goes through the tidal mud flats like butter. I don't hunt flooded timber, so stumps are not a issue with me. I hunt Galveston bay and joining marsh areas. I really don't see a need for me getting a aluminum mud boat when the worst thing I go through is sand and maybe encounter oyster shells.

 Re: new Bachwater Edition boat
They had a Fly boat waiting for delivery at Backwater when I picked up my 10hp last fall. Super sharp looking boat that was made for fishing. It had a poling platform and looked really clean for casting flyline or bowfishing. They said it ran pretty shallow and showed me some cell phone videos of them running around with a loaded boat in high winds and the hull sliced the waves. Sounded like they were through testing and coast guard stuff and were in full production. I'm seeing more flats/center console boats being used around Minnesota for fishing and would love to try bowfishing with a poling platform on a stable hull instead of a re-purposed walleye boat.

I would be curious to know who owns or started this company? Being it is in Minnesota it reminds me of Mark Fisher's old Beavertail Skiffs. Then of course there is the whole Hells Bay law suit etc.

The boat company is owned by one or two of Arlon from Backwaters sons.
