Anyone run a Gatortrax 1750 with longtail??
I'm thinking of upgrading my tracker grizzly 1754 MOD-V to a GatorTrax 1750 huntdeck. I'm "upgrading" because I want a "true flat bottom" boat. I just bought a backwater swomp 37EFI 72" longtail for it and it go's good but the grizzly's mod-v with the keels dig in the Wisconsin cattails, mud, muck, etc to much. So does anyone run a GatorTrax with a longtail mudmotor? All reviews / pictures appreciated.

I do not have a gator trax, but I have a 18x50 mud hull. Even with a good boat, you will glide over Wisconsin reeds, may be later in the year, but right now they are too thick. What part of WI are you in? I am south east.

Is "mud hull" a brand? I normally hunt WAUKESHA area and the Mississippi river (P4).

Re: Anyone run a Gatortrax 1750 with longtail??
When talking "mud hulls", there are some differences in bracing, look, overall weight, and paint, but the term pretty much signifies a boat that is functionally the same regardless of brand. Prodigy, gator trax, go devil, gator tail, etc will all have a flat bottom, no ribs, and longitudinal bracing. The going impression is that the xpress bayou series are too heavy for their size, so other than those, you'd probably be OK with any of the other many options. Don't be scared of going a bit longer on the boat 18 or 19ft, and don't forget there's a product called gator glide that reduces friction between you boat and whatever grass, ground, and weeds your running over. It has no effect on running in open water.
Btw, search and read this site. There's so much info here that pretty much would likely satisfy your concerns. Check this section, as well as the reviews, and the cyber mudfest as well.

Here is the original build thread of my boat: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=27714&hilit=Gpb+sledThis is the type of construction most here refer to as "mud hull." Let me know if you would like to take mine for a spin sometime, I am up near Port Washington. Got plenty of room in the blind if you want to try kill some quackers sometime. Chance
