 Re: Gatorhyde type blind???
My friend built one onto his old boat. Had a lot of trouble with it and wound up scrapping the idea after one season. I never hunted with him in it but he said he had ducks landing on his head most mornings. Just too uncomfortable and a pain to haul gear.

 Re: Gatorhyde type blind???
If you plan it out right you can make your boat blind pretty low profile without having to lay down.

my gator hide has killed more ducks than you can imagine..... you suck as a hunter if you cant shoot birds out of one.

 Re: Gatorhyde type blind???
don't talk about my baby like that I rarely use the laydown technique, just a sitting position. It does take some time to get used to shooting from this boat. All passengers need to fully aware of their shooting zones and not to stand up. The middle guy should never swing for a bird in general but its a bit more important here. if someone should stand up while another guy is swinging for a bird, things could get serious quickly. Its something i stress over and over again to guys who aren't in my regular group, "its only a bird, there will be another". But this type of boat is unmatched in its ability to kill birds. short sides with the ability to add standing brush and grass makes it apart of the landscape. Most times i throw decoys 10-20ft from the boat, its makes for an easy shot. The only down side is that if you are crossing ruff open water you will likely get wet. my property is all marsh and i run back routes to get to it, so I'm not affected by the wind and waves.

 Re: Gatorhyde type blind???
Ive always wondered about hauling decoys with this type of boat. Seems like you wouldn't be able to take a bunch but then again the type of hunting a guy would do from a rig like that ya probably wouldn't need a ton.

 Re: Gatorhyde type blind???
We didn't have a problem hauling decoys or anything else for that matter. There is a ton of storage under the deck and on top of the deck and the one I was in was 60 wide.

 Re: Gatorhyde type blind???
Here's one I did couple years back. I had panels that fit into sockets on my gunnels that pulled them tight. they rolled up then ya unroll them and put them on. the sockets were square on one side a u shape on the other. Google umahunter boat blind and and there's some more pics on there and the refuge
