Hey guys im new to MMT, I have a question on my rig. I recently replaced my 18hp mud buddy hd mini with a 35hp hd sport with power trim, with the old motor I would get 20mph, with the new one I was getting 22mph until I had some small pods put on and bent my scag pretty badly, I heated the scag and bent it back close to where I think it should be and took it for a spin tonight (just me and my dog and some light fishing gear) I only got 20mph out of it running a little over 4k rpms and it pulled hard trying to turn the boat left (guessing scags not quite where it should be). What do you guys think? shouldn't I get a little more speed out of it? The boat is a 1971 ouachita 16x48 and is a very light boat. |

Pods are fuckin you up man. Creating drag most likely. Or sending turbulent water to the prop. Idk about your Skeg* post some pics up of the damages Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Transom Height? You have a tall transom motor on a short transom boat? Or Vice Versa? |

I'd also bet with that old of a boat, you've got some dents in the bottom that are slowing you down too! |

A worn prop could also be the issue |

I found out I was missing over an inch on my prop so got a new one, I am going to try it out tomorrow and see what that gets me, thinking about just getting a different hull. mine is in good shape with very few small dents on the bottom but I feel a wider boat will help, and I do believe the pods are messing it up, the reason I put them on there is because I had a 18hp mb hd mini and could go through double the stuff as I can with the 35 hp. Thanks for all the tips, this is a great site! |

So, why are pods on there anyway? They are probably hurting your speeds too. Also, it is almost 100% all your props fault. Missing even 1/4" can hurt you. you will see a huge improvement |
