Post subject:  Thru-hull transducer?

Anybody tried to shoot through a .125 5086 hull with a Lowrance transducer? I don't want to transom mount my transducer for obvious reasons. I have had good experiences/success epoxy mounting for thru hull reading, but only through fiberglass. How do y'all mount your transducers?

It's pretty skechy unless you get an Alumaducer.

I agree with Johnny-O. I've been using the Alumaducer for years with good results. I'll offer one caution, You must have clean water flow under the hull where you position the Alumaducer. Follow the directions to find the sweet spot.

I looked at the alumaducer link, it looks like a good solution, but at $150 I think I'll try out the stock transducer with a good epoxy mount and see what it does. I can always order the alumaducer if it's not good enough. The only time I really use the depth is when fishing for trout to stay in a certain depth. I'll post some results.

I was thinking about trying to mount to the tab on the back of the transom. Any reason you mentioned Prodrives or is that just what you have seen them on? Seems like it would work, anybody got any pics of this?

I only use the transducer when fishing. It is not in my boat for hunting or mud riding
