what do you guys think about an 18' boat. i was thinking about getting a 17x50 but came accross an 18x48 that i can get for a decent deal. coming out of a 16x44 that seems like the titanic. I have a 35 gtr with a stage 1(heads, cam, exhaust). Over all how does an 18'r run. with say an average hunting load. seems like it would just run flat and plow water. and if you get it stuck seems like you would have hell getting it out. Im hunting mostly open water ect. Not really in the woods. |

I run an 18x48 and i really like the 18 foot, if and when i get a new boat i may get a 20 footer. I was worried about the length when i first got it but after running it some time now can't imagine having any shorter. |

teal season is usually a sob. we have about 2 inches of water and a foot of mud. With a bunch of arrowheads and other grass and if you hit one of those little spots you will be stuck. usually you can trim the motor down and give it hell and reverse and forwards until you get a hole. or you have to push it to a ditch. Im just wondering how hard that is to do with that big boat. NoW granted i know it will draft less and not be sitting on the mud like my old one due to it only being 16x44 with the heavy motor hanging off the back. just want to see what the running difference in a 17x50 vs 18x48 |

What kind of performance difference are we talking between and 17 and 18. Getting up and top end. And I understand with load you loose less with 18 |

Doubt you see alot of difference performance wise but the extra space is such a huge plus. The 18 will carry the load better. If you're worried about having to push it just make sure to get some gator glide. An 1850 sounds perfect |

With the right boat, empty, id guess between 32-35. But I'm no gtr guy. Guess it depends on whose stage 2 we are talking about, but I would think somewhere in there |

I have an 1856 and I like it. When I build my next boat I'm pretty sure it'll be an 1850. From what I'm learning they seem to still be pretty quick and carry a load well too. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

Think of the boat like a see saw. haha. It's all leverage. Between you and a tiller, you'll have as much weight on the ass end as the entire hull weighs by itself. The longer hull will help counter the weight and the boat will draft less in the rear and balance out helping performance all around. Take a 1754 tiller and an 1854 center console... the bigger 1854 with the center console will be able to take off in more shallow areas than the 1754 tiller due to it being better balanced and not sitting deep in the back. |

My 18x60 does well. The only thing holding mine back is lack of a decent prop and the 4300 rpm coils. I should get my props this week and 4700 coils in a couple weeks. I have Delta Performance cam, heads, mikuni, MM exhaust. With 2 adults, 2 teenagers, 2 coolers, and 9 gallons of gas. I am hitting the Rev limiter at 30.6mph. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

Try adding gator glide to the bottom of your new boat to keep from getting stuck during teal, it should help you slide over the grass better |
