I'm about to purchase a 14 foot 36 inch bottom aluminum boat. Wanting to run either a 12hp or 18hp copperhead surface drive but not sure if it'll be to heavy for the boat. Anyone ever had a setup similar to this one? |

I run a 14 horse copperhead with the kohler on a 1436 riveted john boat, it does just fine. Gets me where I need to go. |

Very new to surface drives and have a similar setup... 14HP Kohler Copperhead on an old 1436 jon w/ 16" transom. For the life of me I cannot get this thing to run the speeds yall are getting. I try to change the trim and that does not seem to help. Maybe it is a balance/loading issue. ANY help is appreciated on how yall load this set up. I roughly weigh 180lbs. |

Put some weight in the nose of boat , a battery/gas tank, if its too light it may never plane too much rear weight and it will just plow. Had a simular problem on a 1436 until i got it loaded right.
