Idk where to post this but I drove a long way today looking for some plastic bunk covers and all I found was this bullshit for $64 that only does 16 feet of bunk.

So I got the boat sitting on buckets in the yard and went to Home Depot looking for a cheap solution.... I found it.
4" pvc down spouts for gutters

Bought 2 for $12 each and split them with a sawzall. Had just a little more than enough left over.

They fit right over the bunks with the carpet left on them.
Then I secured them with some stainless screws.

Doesn't look terrible but it doesn't look great either and it was a total cost of about $26

No more electrolysis, and hopefully no more boat freezing to the trailer.
I will update this tomorrow after I get the boat winched back up on the trailer and see how it slides around.

Oh and here's an 1860 godevil sitting on 5 gallon buckets in my front yard just for laughs.

Woods bunks and add Gator glide. Will be slicker then a seals ass ! I have to let my wench back my boat all the way into the water until I can unhook it, even on slow sloping launches !

When I was doing some thread searching on Google a while back, I remember west end angler mentioning this alternative.

I've got some torn carpet I've been ignoring, might just tack some of these on real quick.

An even cheaper alternative is just painting the treated wood with a few coats of oil base paint.

Cool but for new trailers its easy. A quart of paint and a cheap disposable brush is another easy alrernative.

I have close to the same setup, they were 1x4 PVC solid boards from stines , they work fine.. Sure is ugly though haha

Backed the trailer up under the rake and winched right on with one hand. Not bad for $26 and 15 mins of work.

Carpet and plastic bunk covers hold water causing the bunks to prematurely rot out. Painting the wood is a better way to go. Painting them with GatorGlide is well... brilliant!

Just painted my new bunks with some leftover gator glide. Managed to spill about an eighth of a gallon in the bed of my truck prior to the application as I was mixing on the tailgate. That one is gonna haunt me for years to come, one ass busting after another....

It has a spray-in liner so there's still a little grip, but not as much as there used to be

Just did this to mine. Pre cut every thing then screwed them on the bunks in the parking lot at the landing. Nice snug fit and was quick. I wanted keep torn carpet from making contact with the hull.

Bunks were pretty new, just ended tearing the carpet. Next time I redo them, They'll have gator glide.
