 Winch post bow stop question
I'm building a trailer for a new hull. I got a 1860 from Uncle J. It's a full flat with a square pipe bow. I'm needing ideas on how to build the winch post and bow stop. Is there a roller that works good on a flat? I'm new to the form but have been creeping for a while and find it very helpful. I have got a lot good info from here. Thanks in advance for any info or pics y'all would like to share.

Don't bother with a roller. Use a 2x6 or 2x8, put some carpet, make sure the angle is right for your boat, and build the winch post to pull the boat so it rests on/against that.

Np. If you need any pics, I can take a couple when I get home.

Re: Winch post bow stop question
My bow stop was smashed and bent when I bought the boat so I ended up rebuilding it. I cut the old one off where it was bent and simply re-welded some 3/8" thick angle in it's place. The end of the angle support was cut off at the same angle as the bow and an aluminum plate was welded on for a nice landing surface. I put a chunk of horse-mat for cushion and all is well. I don't think this one is going to bend as easily as the original did.

I've built 3 or 4 trailers like this and seems to do well. Easy to build and doesn't take a lot of time.

Re: Winch post bow stop question
I finished my trailer a while back and never posted a pic so here it is. It works good and is secure. I need to add a safety lanyard incase the winch strap snaps. Thanks to North LA Hunter for sharing his method.
