Anybody have any input on a custom haul with trim tab lookin things welded on the bottom in the back. They kind of concern me because they look like they would bend easy while hopping trees and getting hung up on em (common for me). I just wanted to get some input before I make a big deal about it. I just wouldent figure they should be necesary and I jump a lot of trees/stumps so they concered me. Thanks

They are there to create more lift in rear and less draft== more speed. Leave them alone. If you hurt one then bend it back.

I had them welded to the bottom of my 24x72 SeaArk with a 150 Merc! They are like wedges that keep the bow from porpoising at speeds over 50mph. They were about 6 inches wide and about 1/2 inch "tall". After install they were a little to much so I used a grinder and carefull grounded about half of the wedge flat and it is a lot better! With 9 adults and coolers only get 47.9 mph, with 2 adults fishing gear and coolers get 59 mph but that's not WFO because she get a little squirrelly at about 55mph. Tab are adjustable and wedges are fixed but can be trimmed, and won't bend.

An old airboat trick was to bolt a 4” piece of stainless to the transom and bend it up or down with your foot. Good for running deep and if you hit something running shallow you could bend it back. Airboats don’t have reverse

First need to learn a boat is a Hull, not a Haul.

Yea thats why I was like what the hell are the trim tabs seriously nessasary? They dont look small in the pictures either. The only thing I could think of is mabey it porpouses while empty so they had to put tabs on it. Either way they look like a pain in the ass to keep strait or pull the boat backwards if need be.

Weld a bead across the bottom of the boat near the rear.

Wedges are rarely the best option, but can be very effective in the right circumstances. Including mudboats.

For instance, at one point in history I had a 16x38 round chine/tapered transom boat with a 27 PD. The boat always squatted, even on plane. Proper application of 2 wedges right in front of the transom caused that boat to gain 3 mph on the top end, and no negatives.

Right in front of the transom. Doesn't take much. Sometimes a weld bead is all that's needed.

Ahhh , your sayin weld to bottom of boat... i was thinking he was sayin to wedge the motor creating a diff tilt.

Yea, he was talking about adding two little wedge shaped pieces of aluminum to the bottom.

Ive currently got it flipped over squaring up the "notch back" i will see how this helps

If you try wedges, most people suggested initially putting them on with epoxy, so they can be moved around and fine tuned before welding them on.\

If you try the weld method. I want to say two beads about a foot or so from the edge of the boat, maybe 6-8 inches long. Start small and build up. There is some older threads with more detail way back in the day. Google search should pull up some more help.
