I'm curious. What did you hit to split your hull? I have a buddy that runs a go devil boat, and his boat seems like it's built pretty tough.

Yeah, post up about how this happened? I'm running a 2006 model 16x56 GD boat and so far, so good. I recently smoked a burried / sunken log with my boat. Took a pretty good lick, but no cracks or leaks. Now you got me worried about my hull.

best thing is repair inside and out because even with one or the other the crack is still there even if get good penetration the length of the weld

with that being said by only repairing from the inside and pentrating through then you'll have metal sticking out the bottom to get hit the next time to automatically crack the weld

so it split on the bottom of the boat, in the middle of a sheet of aluminum?

maybe it's a material defect and Coco will cover it somehow? Have you asked him about it?

Post Re: split in hull
I had a crack on the bottom of mine. It split exactly the length of the weld on the side of one of the longitudanal braces. I truly believe mine was a trailering issue on these wonderful South LA roads and bridges we have. I took it back to my builder. He ground and gouged it at the crack. It took the re-weld nicely and haven't had trouble since. We looked at how my boat was sitting on the bunk boards of the trailer and the crack was exactly on the side of the bunk board where the outside of the weld was. The weld didn't give but the aluminum on the side of it did.

If you can mark off your braces and take a look, this could be your problem.

This problem is more common than you would think with 1/8th on the bottom.

My repair job took all of 5 minutes.
