Yeap, your rpms are off.
There is no way in hell you are turning anywhere close to 8000 rpms.

How many times is your lead wrapped around your plug wire? Sometimes that makes a difference. The manf. suggest 3-4 wraps max. I've had that before. Also if it gets wet it def. makes the tach do some funny shit at times. I've had them read 360 deg. and reset to zero hours. Not the best units but more readily available than other types and much less expensive than alternatives. The tach i'm looking into getting is over $125.00, but have yet to pull the trigger on it for that simple reason. |
