I know this has been asked many times but I'm going to ask it again. I have a 25GTR on a 1548 Tracker runs good solo (24mph) and good with another normal sized guy (24mph). But, my main hunting partner is my brother who weighs about 350 (18-20mph) and we prefer to hunt another guy with us. My speeds turn to shit when I add a third man(10 mph). What boat size or style would you guys suggest? I just got the 25 for a great deal and I'm not looking to go 35 for a while.

Sounds like you already know what the solution is.

You don't have enough ass in that motor to push a load.
Have your brother by himself another boat or lose some weight

But, since you really don't want to hear it, you need a 35 hp

Going with a bigger boat now, wont hurt. But you need a bigger boat and motor for sure

As with any motor regardless of a sd or an outboard, they have their points of no return. You've found yours. Sounds like you are getting great speeds with your motor but there is a point where they just fall on there face. You need more surface area on your boat and more HP to carry the load you want. You could mod your current motor to get a few more ponies out of it, that would help as well as a gearing change.

I'd go with a 1748, but more important than the exact size is that you get a hull designed for mud motors, such as Gator Trax, Phowler, or other custom builder. Your 25hp will push along a 1748 sufficiently until you can get a 35hp.

I'm thinking of doing an 16x44 with a hunt deck and my 25. Essentially it will be an 1844, should that carry a heavy load well with the 25 or should i be looking for more width?

Get you an 1748 or 1848 extreme and mod your motor. That 1848 extreme performs

Thoughts on an EMF 1748 crawfish for my situation?
